November 2022 - Tumaini Talent: Painting with How To Draw A Lion

Art is not a subject many students get to explore in Tanzania beyond drawing shapes in preschool. There are many barriers including access to materials and a limited number of arts education teachers. We were thrilled to partner with John Platt from How To Draw A Lion on a workshop to teach curious Tumaini students how to draw and paint African animals.

Over the course of a week, the students learned different techniques from shading and line development with pencils to prepping the paint and mixing colors. It was a first-time experience for many of them and they were eager to share their thoughts.
